Known from Sundays River (Ref. 114782), Swartkops River (Ref. 114782) and Baakens River (Ref. 114782). Reports from Krom River are misidentifications for Pseudobarbus senticeps (Ref. 114782). Reports from Gamtoos River (Ref. 13332), Swart River and Kabeljous River are misidentifications for Pseudobarbus swartzi (Ref. 114782). Also Ref. 7248.
